I am quite an aesthetic creature at heart and these covers are purely breathtaking not to mention amazing quality! I couldn't really resist placing an order after showing my other half the Star Wars trilogy book which wasn't on the website last time! It has to be the coolest book in existence, I'm sure some of you fellow Star Wars lovers might agree after seeing it in more detail, especially the back cover!

I half read my Dad's copies of The Vampire Chronicles when I was much younger, but being young (and dipped in folly) I never ended up finishing them before my parents divorced. I've always intended to get copies for myself and have found the odd book whilst thrifting in the past, but they've mostly been too worn out to even bother! Thinking back, it was probably a blessing in disguise now that I've got this gorgeous edition!

I found a hardback edition of Wicked whilst thrifting last year but that didn't stop me from getting this one too! Besides, this edition has book one (Wicked) and book two (Son of a Witch) of 'The Wicked Years' and as I found book three (A Lion Among Men) on my birthday back in January, that just leaves me with book four (Out of Oz) still to get! I just adore the steam-punk gears and vines and of course that amazing back cover!
Now for the pièce de résistance!

*Picks up jaw* Isn't it wonderful?! Just everything about it is gorgeous and I was completely wowed to find the original concept art by the late Ralph McQuarrie on the inner front and back pages, it adds a whole new level of splendour to the book and I can definitely see it becoming quite the collectors piece in years to come!
My dreamed about Barnes & Noble leatherbound library is coming along quite nicely! I won't be adding any more to it for quite a while yet but I already know my next purchases will be Stephen King: Three Novels (the cover is exquisite, bent skeletal trees and a spooky Queen Anne style house!) and Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales!

DeleteReally well made books are such a pleasure!! The bibliophile in me rejoices every time I get my hands on a new book that is bound and not glued! Especially if it is beautiful to look at as well! These books are so gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! It is a shame that they have to be hidden side by side but books with lovely spines like these still look beautiful on the shelf! ~ ♥ ~

ReplyDeleteThanks Desiree :) I very nearly picked up Interview with a Vampire last time I went into a charity shop but it was a more recent edition and I knew if I was going to get them in paperback, I wanted to find the version my Dad had! I'm completely happy with this one though as I much prefer hardbacks! ~ ♥ ~
DeleteBeautiful! I especially love the Anne Rice cover. What a library you're creating... style AND substance! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Emma! We're going to need to build another bookcase before long! I know we will be buying or making at least one more in the dining room when we get around to renovating in there and I'm sure there will be another in the spare bedroom! I think 5 large bookshelves will be plenty but you never know! ~ ♥ ~
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful covers! Now I want those too... x)

DeleteBeautiful books! I have to admit that I havent read any of Anne Rice's books.
ReplyDeleteIf you have watched the films then I do suggest you give the books a whirl, I know you'll like them! I remember some parts can be a little long winded but they are a must read! I can't wait to dive into them again and I'm sure I will appreciate them much more now that I'm older and hopefully wiser! :P ~ ♥ ~
DeleteThese are wonderful and so beautiful to look at. I have Dracula version of these books and my husband has Dante's Inferno. They gorgeous books that will last generations if taken car of.

DeleteI can't say enough about that cover of The Vampire Chronicles! That gate is fantastic. I'll have to google the Stephen King cover, because I'm sure that one is awesome. OK, I just looked it up. :) I love the way the letters are fit into the house.
ReplyDeleteI was having such a hard time deciding between getting the Stephen King one or The Vampire Chronicles but I had been wanting to get the latter for much longer! I'll definitely be ordering Stephen King next time though as the cover is fantastic! I wish the wait between ordering and delivery wasn't so long but it's always worth it in the end! ~ ♥ ~
DeleteBarnes and Noble's classics series is the best. The covers are stunning and very nicely done. I was this |---| close to picking up the Poe anthology while I was at BNN the other day and stopped myself. Might have to go back and get it!
