Treasured Gifts ♥

I'm finally back from my family home, a few days later than expected due to some complications but back nevertheless! I had a wonderful second Christmas with my loved ones where I consumed a mountain of yummy food, devoured one too many films and drank enough booze with my friends to floor a Bantha (I've also been re-immersing myself in the magnificent world of Star Wars if you can't tell!)

I must have been on Santa's (or Satan's) 'nice list' because I've been extremely lucky to receive so many lovely gifts this year (well, last year!) and I'm eternally grateful for every single one of them, especially a very unexpected surprise in the form of an Xbox 360 from my Mum and older brother ♥ So to start off this new blogging year I thought I would share some of my most treasured gifts with those of you who might be curious..

I had originally been planning on buying both of these items with the money I usually receive from my parents at Christmas, but as both of my brothers were quite lost as to what to get for me I nudged them in their direction instead! The GoT Blu-ray Gift Set includes one of Daenerys' dragon eggs in the form of a paper weight!

More CDs to add to the collection! I had once owned the NBC soundtrack but unfortunately I lost it amongst all the moving over the years.. I'm thankful that I no longer have to rely on YouTube when I want to get my fix of Jack and Co! Orchid also marks the completion of my Opeth collection ♥

More reads to tick off my book list! M is for Magic and The Boy with The Cuckoo-Clock Heart were from my beloved and Good Omens was from his parents. I first spotted The Boy with the Cuckoo-Clock Heart in a small book shop in Edinburgh, automatically recognising the cover illustrations to be that of Benjamin Lacombe! I can't wait to delve into these tales but it's going to be hard deciding which one to go for first!

I *squeeeed* when I received The Walking Dead Compendium 2 ♥ I may or may not have dropped a sneaky hint once or twice to my other half about it being released in October during the last few months leading up to Christmas :)

There isn't really much more I can say that I haven't already said about my undying love for BPAL, so to rip open these little packages on Christmas day felt like bliss! I finally got my hands on The Perilous Parlor from the Haunted House collection just in time for it to be discontinued! Pink Snowballs and The Black Temple Burlesque Troupe were Christmas releases and are still available now! I just cannot get enough of these little vials filled to the brim with heavenly scents!

I'm not really a lip gloss fan but I can definitely make an exception for this Candy Apple Carousel Gloss from Lime Crime which has been on my 'makeup wishlist' for close to a year! This beautiful deeply opaque red sparkling gloss is worthy of Snow White and her blood red lips!

These two beautiful necklaces were also gifts from my sweetie, they're from a delightful little shop called The Spangled Maker on Etsy which I discovered around Hallowe'en of last year. I was absolutely dying to make a purchase or two but as it was so close to Christmas I decided to stick some of them on my wishlist instead. I am completely and utterly over the moon with the two he chose for me! ♥ I wore the Queen of Hearts necklace out on New Year's Eve and received so many lovely compliments on it, even from a strange elderly man!

I was utterly surprised, in a very good way, to find this case of preserved creepy crawlies in amongst my presents! My other half knows me far too well when it comes to my love for oddities! :)

The Pièce de résistance has to be this. Everything about this brings me pure happiness! From the vanilla spiked rum to the Victorian-esque illustration, the shape of the bottle and the name of the drink! Just everything about it is beautiful! This dream-like alcohol is definitely going to be saved for special occasions, like joining Captain Jack Sparrow in a toast for instance!

What was your most treasured gift this Christmas?

  1. You received some really lovely gifts! I received GoT season one too, but I didn't get a dragon egg! I wonder if you can buy them separately?

I love that Queen of Hearts necklace too! I keep meaning to buy some Wonderland jewellery but I haven't gotten round to it yet.

    1. I think you can buy the dragon egg separately, at least I remember there being a leaflet in the gift set with all sorts of GoT memorabilia in it. The set is downstairs at the moment though and I can't be bothered to go get it! XD I'm sure if you looked around online you'll come across it!

The Queen of Hearts necklace is just stunning and feels so comfortable to wear! The little rose rests just above my cleavage too which is really quite sweet! Definitely check out The Spangled Maker or Mama's Little Babies for wonderland inspired jewellery! ~♥~

    1. I'm sure I will! :) My dad has been a massive fan of Pratchett since before I was born and his book shelf was always brimming with Discworld books! I absolutely loved watching the animations of Wyrd Sisters and Soul Music when I was a kid so I'm guessing a Pratchett and Gaiman collaboration will definitely be a worthy read! ~♥~

    1. I owe a lot of it to my other half, he does like to spoil me at Christmas time and I him! He adored the talking R2D2 plush I got him and the mountain of books! I just love Christmas morning with him, we're like two big kids! ~♥~

  5. I've always wanted to try that Kraken Rum! I love rum, but even if I didn't, I'd want that just for the jug. Nice glass too. Hey, drinking this with Captain Jack Sparrow is the only way that gift could be improved. :)

I feel like I remember your post about The Spangled Maker shop. Those necklaces are very cool. I'll have to pay that shop another visit!

    1. I had seen adverts for Kraken Rum in Metal Hammer magazine on a few occasions and wanted desperately to get my hands on it! It's such an awesome bottle, even just for display purposes and the totally awesome glass came free!

You might be thinking of Mama's Little Babies which I've done a couple of reviews on in the past. They both specialise in making Victorian illustration jewellery so they do look very similar, but I guess there are only a certain number of period illustrations available for people to use! They're both amazing at what they do though so I recommend checking out both shops! ~♥~

  6. Wow, you had one of the best Christmas loots I've ever seen, lucky lady. How can I talk the people in your life into talking to the people in my life about gift giving? Not to say I didn't get some cool things for Christmas but my parents always shy away from buying me "weird" things. Vanilla spiked rum sounds so good btw and this post reminded me I need to make a Christmas post. Speaking of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' soundtrack I was recently searching for the copy I own and couldn't find it anywhere, I think there is a evil little gnome roaming around stealing peoples soundtracks!

    1. Haha I've always been the 'black sheep' of my family I guess and over the years they've just gotten to know my taste! They don't always get it right though, in fact my Dad just gives me money in a card for Christmas every year!

My other half and his parents actually understand me far more than my own family, they're definitely much more open minded kind of people! Plus my other half knows me through and through :)

Yes, there must be some pesky little gnomes out there with a grudge against NBC! ~♥~

    1. Wow, you read them very quickly! I have all the novels but I've not finished them yet! I've been a big fan of GoT since it first aired on television, if it wasn't for the tv series I might have never discovered the novels! I'm really looking forward to watching season 3 in March! ~♥~

  14. Someone had a jolly good holiday! So much cool stuff! I think my biggest present was just spending time with my man and the animals and not having to work. It's the simple things that made me happiest this year!

  17. You were totally blessed by amazing gifts this year, they scream you all over, I do think this is the best part of receving something, being it expensive or not, is when you totally get stunned of how people know what you like, and believe me, having so many themes of interest i know sometimes i can be a hard job when it comes to choosing gifts.
I receive mostly books, an perfect purple blankie that it's my new best friend, just what i wanted :P
